For the first time in decades, we must have a balanced New Mexico legislative voice that is pro-job, pro-business, and pro-family. Legislative leaders who fit that description can help individuals provide for themselves and their loved ones; to prosper instead of languishing. Together, we will turn back the tide of misguided policies in New Mexico that have kept us at the top of the bad lists and the bottom of the good ones. Bold actions will lead to extraordinary results for all of us.
Legislative Scorecards illustrate how elected officials support New Mexicans — or how their votes and policy positions hinder opportunities for New Mexico to grow and prosper. These scorecards give voters information they need to make informed decisions at the polls.
About the Grading System
Candidates are graded on a scale ranging from A through F on their pro-market and job creating positions or anti-business positions.
Pro-Market/Job Creator: Supports less government interference and encourages a healthy business environment with private-sector job growth.
Anti-Business: supports government growth, taxation & regulation that surpasses healthy markets and restricts private-sector job growth.
Incumbents are denoted with an (I). These scores were based on legislative votes on NMBC priority issues. Others were scored on their responses to the NMBC survey. Priority issues and the survey can be found at www.nmbizcoalition.org.
A candidate which failed to respond to an NMBC position survey are denoted with an (*) asterisk, depriving voters of seeing where they stand on important issues.
